The city of Jinotega is located in the north of Nicaragua, 160 kilometers from the capital, Managua. Jinotega is situated in a valley encircled by mountains, covered with pine trees and cloud-covered rain forest.

The department of Jinotega has approximately 177,600 inhabitants over an extension of 9,576 square kilometers, this deartament is the second larghets in Nicaragua,bordering on the north with Honduras.

The inhabitants of Jinotega are called Jonoteganos and they are very helpfull for just about any type of informations.

To get to Jinotega form Managua take the bus that depart from El Mayoro market and after aproximately 3.5 hours you'll arrive in Jinotega. If you start from Matagalpa the trip is one hour and half long.
